As a pair of true Geographers we took the scenic route through Glasgow and visited Karien's specialty: neighbourhoods in decline which are being restructured. I had visited the Gorbals before but this time we had more time to wander about and let it sink in.

But don't you dare think that Glasgow is just about grey neighbourhoods... There is a lot more and there are a lot of initiatives to get the community involved in all sorts of projects. However, Glasgow is still a city with a large portion of the population relying on semi-skilled jobs and these are the jobs that are less and less available.
